2017 Club Picnic

The 2017 CVMC picnic was held on Sunday Sept. 17 th , the 50 Club members that attended had a picture perfect day with sunny skies and temps in the low 80s. As usual the festivities began at 9am with coffee and muffins, tailgating and socializing. Mineral crafts of wire/gem trees were available for members thanks to Maria Sansalone with quite a few members participating. The burgers and dogs were cooked for 12/12:30 with all the side dishes and desserts provided by Club members to top it all off.

We had some special birthday recognition to the Club's 2 oldest members. These two men were Archie Plante age 95 and Don Davis age 92. Club member and Secretary Diane Burl made a special rock themed cake for the picnic that doubled as a birthday cake for our 2 birthday boys and she did an amazing job!

Lunch was followed up by the Chinese auction with rock tools and hobby related prizes. The regular Club action was small with only 13 flats of assorted items and mineral specimens. The day's activities started winding down about 3pm and we were all packed up and gone by 4pm. All in all the day went well and all the attendees seemed to enjoy the day.

I'd like to thank the committee members for all their hard work and for all the people that jumped in to lend a hand the day of the picnic, we couldn't have done it without you!!
