Barrus Farm Fall Field trip

The second Barrus Farm field trip of the year was Sunday October 15 th and was attended by 7 Club members. This site had a considerable amount of work done to it a couple years ago and the conditions of the collecting area was improved. With the brush removed and dumps, boulders and ledges exposed the chances of finding good specimens has been greatly improved. The small group made its way into the dig area right along with a beautiful, breezy fall day. Wayne took the people that hadn't been there since the site work was done and gave them the nickel tour and explained where things were then we were all off and looking for specimens. There was some beautiful Mica specimens found and a few Goshenites and Tourmalines. The day was so nice that even if you didn't bother to collect a thing it was nice to all be out there together enjoying it and each other's company. The group hung in there till late afternoon with the last of us walking out a little past 4pm dirty, sore and tired, all symptoms of a good day digging!!
